DAY 1 - Witoto Indigenous Community and Jungle

Arrival at the Alfredo Vásquez Cobo Airport in the city of Leticia.

Meet with your guide for the tour and go on a ride in our van or taxi (depending on the size of your group) to travel to the 7th kilometer (km 7) from Leticia via Tarapacá, to visit the Witoto Community.

We will begin our adventure with a hike through indigenous trails through mainland jungle, observing the fauna and flora.
-
Visit the traditional crops of indigenous Witotos where you will learn about different crop species, such as coca, bananas and yuca brava (toxic yucca).
-
After this pleasant and interesting 1 hour journey, we will have arrived at the Maloca of the Witoto indigenous tribe.

You will learn to recognize plant species such as yagé, coca and tobacco, and how it is extracted and prepared in the Witoto culture.

Night walk through the mainland jungle, identifying nocturnal species while the moon shines on the jungle paths.

Conversation about the Witoto culture, covering topics such as the maloca as a domestic space and cultural symbol, coca as the power of the word, and yagé as power and shamanic force.

DAY 2

Breakfast 7:00 a.m.

Departure to the Community of San Pedro and Lotus Flower Reserve.
-
Jungle trek: in the morning we will hike into the mainland jungle. During our tour we will identify how plants are used in different cultures, regions and time periods, learning how dynamic the jungle is.

We will travel down the Leticia highway via Tarapacá.
-
We will continue our journey through the jungle to the San Pedro indigenous community of the Ticuna tribe.
-
Embark on a walk of about 3 hours for wildlife observation of the mainland jungle, to finally arrive at the indigenous community of San Pedro (Indigenous Ticunas of the mainland).

During the visit to the community you will learn about their daily activities, products derived from crops, we will have a brief cultural exchange with the residents of the community, meeting the older women and hear their advice through songs in the Ticuna language.

After our visit to the community of San Pedro, we will ride on the slow motor boats of the natives by water trails of the Yahuarcaca creek to the Lotus Flower Reserve in the lakes of Yahuarcaca. (The activity of visiting the community of San Pedro and touring the Yahuarcaca gorge only applies to the high water months from November to June).

After a rest in hammocks, we will do canoeing activity visiting the lakes of Yahuarcaca, in traditional canoes we will acknowledge the landscapes of the flooded forest.

Enjoy a refreshing swim in the Yahuarcaca Lake

Return to the Lotus Flower Reserve.

Departure by boat to observe nocturnal wildlife.

DAY 3

Breakfast

Departure by boat or canoe, navigate the imposing Amazon River downstream to Leticia.

Location of the imaginary point of the three borders Brazil, Peru and Colombia.

Visit to the Island of Santa Rosa (Peru) tour of the island.

Visit the market of Leticia (Colombia) and artisan galleries, the border of Brazil and Colombia
-
Visit to Tabatinga (Brazil), tour of the Tabatinga market, the commercial area of ​​Tabatinga, the Comara viewpoint.

Transfer to the airport one hour before the flight.

Recommendations and Suggestions​

It is essential to have your passport or citizenship card with you, minors must have their identity card, or civil registry and the authorization of the parents (if only one of the parents accompanies you and if the program requires you to leave the country), if you are a foreigner resident in Colombia the immigration card or passport (verify validity of the passport), as well as the current international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever, (apply with a minimum of 10 days before the trip.) and against tetanus. (Vaccines is a preventive suggestion but not mandatory).
