Day 1: Arrival and Jungle Trek

 

  • Arrive at Alfredo Vásquez Cobo Airport in Leticia.

  • Meet your guide and depart in the Amazon tour vehicle for a 14 km journey along the Leticia road via Tarapacá.

  • Embark on a jungle trek, exploring the mainland jungle and learning about ethnobotany and jungle dynamics.

  • Set up a jungle camp with hammocks and mosquito nets.

  • Enjoy a campfire, dinner, and night walk to experience the jungle's sounds, luminescent mushrooms, and insects.

Day 2: San Pedro Community and Lotus Flower Reserve

 

  • Breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

  • Dismantle the jungle camp and hike to the Community of San Pedro and Lotus Flower Reserve.

  • Observe the fauna of the Amazon basin's largest forest.

  • Witness rubber latex or syringa extraction.

  • Visit the indigenous Ticuna community of San Pedro (approximately 3 hours of walking).

  • Learn about their daily activities, crops, and language.

  • Enjoy a traditional lunch in the community.

  • Afternoon activities:

  •     Handcrafting workshop

  •     Visit to the Chagra (traditional crop field) to plant yuca, platano, pineapple, or seasonal fruit crops

  •     Fishing

  •     Play soccer in the community

  •     Prepare fariña (cassava flour)

  •     Engage in traditional games with children

  • Dinner and overnight in a traditional hut with hammocks and mosquito nets.

  • Learn myths and stories of the jungle.

 

Day 3: Yahuarcaca Lakes and Return to Leticia

 

  • Breakfast

  • Depart by traditional wooden canoe along the Yahuarcaca ravine to the Yahuarcaca lakes.

  • Tour the flooded jungle landscapes of Igapo.

  • Optional activities:

  •     Fishing in the Yahuarcaca lakes

  •     Survey of flooded jungle landscapes

  •     Swimming in the Yahuarcaca lakes

  • Return to Leticia.

  • Transfer to the airport one hour before your flight.

Recommendations and Suggestions​

  • It is essential to have your passport or citizenship card with you, minors must have their identity card, or civil registry and the authorization of the parents (if only one of the parents accompanies you and if the program requires you to leave the country), if you are a foreigner resident in Colombia the immigration card or passport (verify validity of the passport), as well as the current international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever, (apply with a minimum of 10 days before the trip.) and against tetanus. (Vaccines is a preventive suggestion but not mandatory).

  • Carry the medical assistance card or ID card or pre-paid medicine.

  • Our plans include COLASISTENCIA medical assistance card.

  • A small backpack for the tours.

  • A large backpack to handle as luggage.

  • For your trip to the Amazon include what is strictly necessary in your luggage.

  • Bring comfortable clothes that provide freedom of movement, light and fresh (bring light colored garments (no black or dark garments). You can bring  T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, swimwear, caps or hats, sunglasses, comfortable footwear, tennis, enough socks as well as water bottles, raincoats, rubber boots, headlights or flashlights with their respective batteries.

  • Repellent, sunscreen, and toiletries.

  • If you are vegetarian, vegan or have a preference in your diet, inform us before your trip and let your guide know at the beginning of the tour.

  • If you are allergic to any type of food or if you suffer from animal allergies, inform your agency and your guide at the beginning of the tour.

  • If you suffer from any type of phobia, especially zoophobia, inform your guide before the tours.

  • If you take any medication under medical prescription, please include it in your luggage.

  • Cameras with sufficient batteries if required as well as a waterproof plastic bag to isolate the equipment from moisture (and include pads that absorb moisture).
